The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition, a partnership between the cities of Rock Springs and Green River, Sweetwater County, Wyoming, has engaged SiteSeer Technologies to use the SiteSeer platform to bolster its retail recruitment strategy.
Founded in 2016, the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition covers county-wide economic development initiatives. The coalition will use SiteSeer and the Communities City Government Expansion Pack to identify opportunities for retail and restaurant expansion.
Kayla McDonald, business development manager for the Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition, says that her organization partnered with the University of Wyoming to study the retail landscape in the area and identied 10 retail gaps to focus on in their recruitment efforts.
“We were looking for a partner to help us attract great retailers and restaurants to Green River and Rock Springs,” she says. “With newly elected ocials in the county commissioner’s and mayor’s oces, we are eager to kick off a retail expansion effort in 2019 to replace some of the anchor tenants that we’ve lost and bring other great businesses to the region.”
McDonald says that population growth in Sweetwater County has risen steadily. Rock Springs, the largest town in the county, has a diverse economy composed of trona mining and production, education, coal mining, healthcare, and oil and gas. The coalition’s goal is to ll retail gaps and make intelligent choices when partnering with businesses.
